MBBS Seats in India 2025: State-Wise NEET UG Seat Matrix Breakdown
NEET in India offers limited seats for MBBS students to study in government and private medical colleges. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra always lead the rankings with the largest number of seats. Although government colleges are famous for their low tuition fees, private colleges play a major role in the overall seat number, though at a greater expense. Over the last few years, there has been rapid growth in private MBBS colleges in states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and other regions, making more opportunities available to students. With more than 1 lakh NEET MBBS and BDS seats in India in 2025, applicants have a variety of options to fulfill their dream of becoming a doctor irrespective of their home state.

All India Quota (AIQ) NEET 2025: Seat Reservation by Category
NEET 2025 follows a structured reservation policy under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) to ensure equal access to medical education. AIQ seats are reserved for various categories: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC-NCL, 10% for EWS, and 5% for PwD across all categories. These reservations apply to all government medical and dental colleges, except those in Jammu & Kashmir. This policy promotes diversity and inclusion in medical education by supporting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Candidates must present valid category certificates and must ensure that they have received the required NEET cut off marks during MBBS NEET counselling to claim reserved seats under All India Quota seats.
